Joe Porter – (Innkeeper, Gerald, Tarheel 1)
Children of the Night is Joe’s 3rd Mainstage show. He appeared in An Act of the Imagination and The Solid Gold Cadillac. He has also performed with The Pocket Sandwich theatre (The Legend of Deadeye Mary, Camp Death, Brandi, the Vampire Staker, etc), Rover Dramawerks (Mornings at Seven, Woman in Mind, Veronica’s Room, Surviving Grace, etc), Garland Community Theatre (One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest, You Can’t Take It With You).
In Children of the Night, Joe wears a variety of hats in each Act. As a superstitious and wary Innkeeper in Eastern Europe, he has some amazing non-verbal expresion. He even learned a range of Romanian insults! As a London banker in Act 2, he’s seduced by a steamy and entrancing vampire. Finally, as a villager in the Outer Banks, he gets to explore the Hoi Toider Ocracoke Brogue.
Joe brings a lot of energy and verve to help fill out what could have been forgettable characters. In his hands, they are anything but! From his character description:
Villager/Gerald/Tarheel 1: Rustic European villager/Heavyset British aristocrat/Simple working-class man, with Ocracoke accent.
