Which doorway will you open today?

When you see a doorway, do you ever ponder what wonders lie on the other side? For me, doorways are a metaphor for opportunities and paths not taken. They are, in a very real sense, barriers that stand between us and something we might desire. But, they aren’t walls. They’re designed to allow passage if we have the right key (or secret word, lockpick, or battering ram).

What’s standing between you and your dreams?

Here at Prost Stage Production, we’ve been writing plays for years without a plan of how to get them staged. Thanks to a nudge from the good folks at MainStage Irving Arts 222, we formed PSP to solve that “last mile” problem. So, we are going with both the key AND the battering ram approach. In the process, we’re going to be offering a lot of open doors to other people.

Staging a play takes more than picking a time and place. To succeed, you need to find a Director, Stage Designer, Lighting Designer, Master Builder, Stage Manager, Costume Designer, Prop Master, a troupe of actors and actresses, and more. Also, it takes promotional materials and well-designed posters, marketing plans, and maybe even a few stunts. In other words, it’s about A Million Open Doors (which is a book I have to plug if I’m writing an article with this title).

But, we’d like to do more than just produce our own works. Is there a way that we can cross-promote a cause that you’re passionate about along with one of our shows? Or, do you have an original piece that needs a home? Maybe you’re interested in staging one of our plays? Let us know how we can help open a door for you!
