Our mission statement is a work in progress. Here are a few of the things we’re mulling over:
- We exist to promote original works in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.
- We shall strive to improve the quality of stageplays produced; focusing on works that challenge and subvert the status quo. This includes focusing on improving representation (gender identity, age, sexuality, ethnicity, & any other areas where we can promote progress) and by taking risks on non-traditional productions rather than focusing on profitability.
- We shall create safe working areas – by promoting respect & proactive engagement on stage & also by focusing on safety behind the stage / forestalling backstage drama through professionalism and best practices.
- We believe in paying all creatives – it is our goal to share the fruits of the box office with all of the tribe members involved in bringing the magic to life. DFW stages should not be exercises in vanity – they should be paying gigs that support a vibrant and growing economy of workers.
